NaNoWriMo Bust of 2007

NaNoWriMo is over!
My final total...274...
Yes, I busted this year. Loser. My only excuse is that I had major surgery in October (Oct 17) and the recovery wiped me out completely. I was not expecting such a complete crash of everything, mental and physical. I’m better now but its too late for November.

Revenants will not die! I’m planning my own NaNoWriMo for January or February depending on schedule. Knowing me, it will most likely be March.

Yes, I’m definitely participating in NaNoWriMo next year!

A very slow start but I’m still recovering from my surgery and was somehow very exhausted today. I almost didn’t even try to write since it was hard to even focus on gathering and expanding my notes; but, Gabriel, (my born vampire/leader) insisted. I’m hoping to start picking up the pace very soon.

Revenants

This year’s novel was inspired by the idea of vampires vs zombies. I will confess that I’m borrowing the basic idea from an awesome online comic called Last Blood but have given it my own twist. The vampires vs zombies concept quickly merged with my desire to write vampires into a future Earth where they dominate. And why do they dominate this future? Well, it has not only undergone a WWIV but also a series of civil wars between corporations that took over what was left over called the Core Wars. But now a new threat has arisen to wipe out the human race. A zombie virus. Why do the vampires care? Humans are their main food supply, no other blood source works. As a result, humans and vampires must live together in a type of feudal society. But the zombie horde is slowly winning the war and its becoming clear there is a force behind their domination.

My core cast is made up of eight major characters. My largest cast to date. It includes a born vampire, twin infected vampires, a cyborg enforcer, a healer, a teenage necromancer, a “living” zombie musician, and an illegal android.

I’m very excited about this novel. I’m determined to see it to the end of the month and beyond!
